Kay Cox Wins National Award for Women in Leadership

We are incredibly proud to share that our CEO, Kay Cox, has been named the winner of the Excellence in Women Empowerment Award at the Leading Women in Care Awards 2026.

Held in London on 19th March, the awards celebrate the achievements of inspiring women across the adult social care sector, recognising leaders who are making a meaningful impact within their organisations and the wider industry.

Kay was shortlisted alongside an exceptional group of finalists from across the UK, before being announced as the winner of this prestigious category.

A Leader Driving Opportunity and Progress

This award recognises leaders who champion progression, empower others, and create opportunities within their organisations. Kay’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening career pathways, supporting team development, and enabling more women to step into leadership roles across our homes.

Her commitment to creating clear development routes and fostering a supportive, inclusive culture continues to shape the future of Stow Healthcare and the experiences of both colleagues and residents alike.

About Kay Cox

Kay’s  journey into management began over 30 years ago, with the past 15 years spent in the care sector—an industry that continually challenges, humbles, and inspires her in equal measure.

From working in sales in the travel industry to leading Stow Healthcare today, Kay has consistently demonstrated a passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred service, while empowering those around her to grow and succeed.

Kay recently led Stow Healthcare to being named in carehome.co.uk’s top 20 Midsize Care Homes in the UK for 2025.

A Word From Kay

"I feel incredibly honoured to have been nominated alongside such inspiring women across our sector and truly humbled to have received this award. This recognition reflects the passion, dedication, and hard work of our entire team. Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside people who genuinely care — who go above and beyond to support our residents and each other. Empowering others has always been at the heart of what we do. Creating opportunities, supporting development, and helping people believe in what they can achieve is something I care deeply about, and I’m proud to be part of an organisation that shares those values."

Celebrating Women in Care

With the awards taking place during International Women’s Day celebrations, this recognition is also a powerful reminder of the impact women continue to make across the care sector.

"To any woman working in care or considering a career in this sector — be proud of the difference you make. Your voice matters, your leadership matters, and there are no limits to what you can achieve when you’re supported, encouraged, and given the opportunity to grow."

At Stow Healthcare, we couldn’t be prouder of Kay and this well-deserved recognition — a true reflection of her leadership and our shared commitment to delivering care you can trust.
